Presentació

Catuxa is a PhD student in UOC University and a researcher in ResiCOVID-19 project. Through this project and her thesis she is studying the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic in long term care homes as well as elaborating proposals for improvement of the care model.

Catuxa studied medicine and did a master’s degree in public health. Her master thesis was on the work-life balance of essential workers during the first year of the COVID-19 pandemic in Spain. She then joined ResiCOVID-19 project where she is currently developing the qualitative research within the project which focuses on the experience of the COVID-19 pandemic of the people who live and work in long-term care homes as well as family members in Catalonia. She had previously worked in long term care homes as a doctor so this field was familiar to her.

She is interested in many topics: concepts of home in long term care homes (what is homelike?), changes of perspectives in the long term care model due to COVID-19 (from more humanised to sanitary), elements of resilience (what brings strength in times of difficulty?), intersectionality and gender studies, care work, among other topics.
