Signe is visiting researcher at CareNet until summer 2026.
She is an Associate Professor at the IT University of Copenhagen (Denmark), director of the group “Welfare technology, policy, people and practices” at the Centre for Digital Welfare and the Bachelor Programme of Digital Design and Interactive Technologies.
Signe’s research sits at the intersection of STS, design, and ageing studies, with a focus on welfare technologies, co-design processes, and questions of participation – as well as the ethical considerations that emerge in practice.
She is currently engaged in two larger externally funded research projects:
- TRACE (Transformations in Care): In collaboration with colleagues at ITU, Signe is exploring ‘safety’ or surveillance technologies – and how care is practiced and transformed in the relations between care workers, older people, and technologies.
 - Social isolation and loneliness among older adults: Together with researchers in Sweden (Gothenburg and Halmstad University), she is exploring how public social services and collaborations (samverkan in Swedish) can reduce loneliness.
